Founded in 1866 and known as "The Only All-Rail Route To the Catskill Mountains," connected the Hudson River (Kingston) through scenic mountain valleys to Oneonta, NY, becoming vital for tourism, shipping milk, and timber/stone, eventually acquired by New York Central, with passenger service ending in 1954,
Later absorbed by the New York Central Railroad in 1932.
The last NYC passenger train ran in 1954; freight operations ceased, and tracks were cut back.
