A very rare piece of Catskill Vintage
An antique letterhead, ephemera for the Smith House, W.M. Smith proprietor, a first class hotel, livery attached, headquarters for western stages and dated 1897. Good shape. Measures about 5 3/4 x 9 inches.
The Smith House was located on Main Street in catskill for over 140 years. One of Catskill's oldest hotels, having opened in 1820, it was named after three generations of Smiths who owned and ran it until 1922. The hotel was torn down for a parking lot in 1962 after years of decline.
For many years an elm tree grew out of the floor in the dining room and sprouted up through the roof.
